Alex Cooper is pleased to present our August 23rd Gallery Auction including Art, Furniture, Rugs, and Decorative Arts. Art is headlined by 70+ works handpicked from the lifelong art collection of John A. Rasmussen (Jack), Director and Curator of the American University Museum at the Katzen Art Center and former Executive Director of Maryland Art Place. Proceeds from the sale will support the mission of the Art Connection in the Capital Region, Washington, DC. The Rasmussen Collection includes work by Jo Smail, Sam Gilliam, Joseph Shannon, Dan Dudrow, Dan Yellow, Kuhne, Jack Perlmutter, James Sundquist, Tammra Sigler and more. Art also includes paintings, prints, sculpture, photography, glass, and ceramic by artists including Dale Chihuly, Constatin Brancusi, Jessica Craig-Martin, Pablo Picasso, Fernand Leger, Melvin Miller, Toshi Yoshida, Phillip Alexius de Laszlo, Jacob Glushakow, Francisco Zuniga, Danilo Di Prete, Salvador Dali, Douglas Hofmann, Kees Van Dongen and more. Contemporary furniture from Hooker, Theodore Alexander, and Lee Jofa. A mid-century bedroom set by Ward Furniture and a 1974 Steinway & Sons Gran Piano. Rugs feature several beautiful antique runners, as well as a beautiful silk Qum Rug. Decorative Arts feature a selection of porcelain including Continental, Chinese Export, Royal Copenhagen, and a large Herend “Chinese Rust Bouquet” dinner service. This auction will also include decorative lighting, bronzes, glass including Baccarat crystal set in the “Harmonie” pattern, and anatomical teaching torso, and a Swiss Army knife electrical countertop advertising display, and more.
