1.) Union Solder's Letter - March 1 1862 from Clarence Lathrup to his mother Hannah. He talks about the local news and that he discarded his blanket while marching away from Charleston WV. He also says that he was give 24 hour guard duty by the colonel for standing and talking to another guard who was on duty. 2.) Envelope addressed to Hannah Lathrop 166 W 49th St in NYC. It was stamped for General Bank's Division, a rather poor Union general.

Letter has strong ink and clear lettering but but has a partial split in the middle of the page
