Mid-19th century, unidentified maker's mark, Andrey Antonovich Kovalsky assay mark (1821-1856), Moscow, 84 silver standard; the circular domed foot, with a shell border, the base with four enameled plaques depicting the last days of Christ, within a border of paste jewels; the baluster-form standard supporting a generous cup, with applied scrolling foliage and floral swags allover, set with four oval enameled plaques of saints, also within a border of paste jewels, the border inscribed in Old Church Slavonic; 13 in. H.
Condition
Date mark is partially rubbed, probably 1840s. Gilding is strong, without much wear. Interior of cup with faint scratches. One plaque on the foot missing a screw, visible on the interior
