Description
1861-C Liberty Gold $5 PCGS AU53. This is the final coin produced at the Charlotte mint and it is believed that 800-900 were struck by the Confederacy after they took control of the mint. This one does have a small die crack in AMERI so could be from that group. Strike is good other than eagle's head and reverse has aqua-teal toning in some of the fields. Popular due to its association with the Confederacy and low mintage of 6,879
