A 19th century Chinese publication of James Legge, translator, CONFUCIAN ANALECTS, THE GREAT LEARNING, THE DOCTRINE OF THE MEAN, and THE WORKS OF MENCIUS (also published as the 1st two volumes of THE CHINESE CLASSICS for Legge, Hong Kong, 1861 - almost identical to the present copy in typography, with changes in the spelling of Chinese names, seemingly more sensitive to Chinese pronunciation). This published as two vols. in one (Confucius and Mencius with separate pagination), with only a Chinese title; fan-fold tissue paper pages, stitched in Chinese manner, in later cloth binding, the spine stamped with Chinese characters.
