Frederick, Lord North (1733-1792, Prime Minister of Great Britain, 1770-1782) ALS in 3rd person dated at Downing Street, Sept. 19, 1771, to a Mr. Jenkinson, confirming that he has appointed "Mr. Blackstone to succeed Mr. Saxby as Examiner of out port books in the Port of London." 1 p., 8vo., mounted on part of an autograph album page, with notes about Lord North. A separate letter from Elihu Burritt, an American diplomat and social activist, mounted on verso. Also included is the signature of Lord Melbourne, Prime Minister of Great Britain 1835-1841, which has been snipped from another document. Two pages, approx. 9 1/2 x 8 in. Lord Melbourne's signature, writing on verso, 1 1/4 x 2 1/4 in.
