Original manuscript document in Latin and English, January 23, 1582, pertaining to the guardianship and instruction of James Sandilands of Calder, 2nd Lord Torphichen (1576-1617, then a minor), witnessed and signed by 5 unidentified individuals, with two large seals affixed; endorsed, "Preceptum caisma et Joann. Cokburn de ormistom;" 1 p., on vellum, 9 3/4 x 12 1/2 in.
