J. C. Clark (an aspiring artist) ALS to Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792, leading portrait painter of the era) dated at Bristol, March 17, 1778; 2 pp., 4to, with integral address sheet. Enclosed with the letter is a miniature portrait of a woman in a small black frame (probably of later date. Clark asks Reynolds for art advice and his opinion on Clark's skill as an artist.
Condition
Has been folded into thirds, small tears in some of the folds, tears have been repaired with tape
