Robert Dinwiddie (1692-1770), Lt. Governor of Virginia, 1751-1758) part-printed document, signed, August 15, 1754 (the 28th year of George II's reign) appointing a commission to investigate and try the case of Violet and Beck, two female slaves, accused of "having prepared and administered a poisonous medicine," to the son of one of their masters, signed by Dinwiddie, l.r., with portion of the colony's seal; folio, 15 x 11 3/4 in., by sight, framed.

Old damp damage and restoration; some of the handwriting faint, and losses filled in another hand
