William Penn (1644-1718, Proprietor of Pennsylvania) Original Deed, signed, with impressed wax seal, February 6, 1681, granting 500 acres of land in Pennsylvania to John Kirton of Kensington, Middlesex, in exchange for 5 shillings, the actual property to be determined on the establishment of the proposed colony; endorsed by H. Springett, Thomas Peace, and Benjamin Griffith. Folio, ink on vellum, 13 1/2 x 17 7/8 in.
Condition
The vellum is yellowing on the reverse, but fairly white on front; a natural hole in the vellum at top right, mostly in the margin; ink strong overall but the entered details are in lighter-brown ink than the original boilerplate; intersecting folds
