Original handwritten order of Lt. A. Brown, of the 44th Regt. of Foot, to pay one Joseph Simons for his recruiting activities, dated at Philadelphia, March 29, 1759; endorsed and signed by Archibald Campbell (1739-1791, in 1759 a soldier in the 42nd Regt. of Foot - Highlanders - later a leading British officer in the southern phase of the Revolution, then Gov. of Jamaica and Madras, India) New York, April 18, 1759, naming Peter Van Brugh Livingston (1710-'92 of the prominent NY family) and Naphtali Hart Myers (1711-'88, Jewish merchant in NY, later resident of London).
