George Clymer (1739-1813, Pennsylvania Signer of the Declaration of Independence) handwritten document, signed, dated July 18, 1776; 1 p., 2 7/8 x 7 7/8 in.: an order for the Treasurer, John Nixon, to pay 200 pounds to Worral & Allison "for work done at Fort Island." Written and signed by Owen Biddle (1737-1799) member of the Committee of Safety, who was de facto Governor of Pennsylvania five days during July. Also signed by James Biddle (1731-1797, cousin to Owen) who was Prothonotary of the Philadelphia courts and a member of the committee tasked with fortifying the island.

Toned, with losses at edges; some light pencilling; window mounted on a larger sheet
