Comprising: 1) Portrait of Judge Richard Peters of Belmont (1744-1828, Secretary of War through the Revolution) "C.W. Peale," in pencil, verso; 2) Large format portrait of a high-ranking Army officer in uniform, c.1845, identified as Col. Samuel Winslow Miller (1780-1855, of Richmond, Va., however no corroborating documentation found) in a leather-covered case that once housed a portrait of R. Peters by Peale, now in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; and 3) Portrait of Maria Louisa Miller, daughter of Col. S. W. Miller (d.1898).
Condition
Both portraits of the gentlemen are cracked. The portrait of the officer is rubbed, with loss of pigment in the background and hair
