A light flintlock rifle used by Colonel Peter Schuyler's "Jersey Blues" militia during French & Indian War and reissued at outbreak of Revolution: round barrel marked "LONDON," and with proof marks, 38 1/4 in. L.; flintlock ignition, the plate lettered "WILSON;" walnut full stock with brass butt plate (marked NEW JERSEY), trigger guard, and ramrod guides, brass thumb rest engraved "L / 4" (company and gun number), and some soldiers' graffiti; iron ramrod; 54 in. L. overall.
Condition
The stock with considerable wear and losses, notably a large piece of the butt stock broken off; the wrist shattered and repaired, lashed with cord

From the estate of a Maryland collector. Purchased from Guthman Americana, 1981, who stated it was the only example known to him with original flintlock ignition..
