Description
Early 19th century, reportedly owned by Captain Henry Dashiell (1769-1830) master of the ship Venus in 1795, and veteran of the War of 1812; may have been used also by Captain Chas. A. Berry (1812/13-1869, Dashiell's son-in-law) master of the Falmouth in 1858: Brass barrel partly covered in oil cloth, with brass single draw and sliding hood; 20 1/8 in. L., closed, and 37 1/8 in. L., extended.
Condition
Shows heavy use, with large portion of oil cloth cover lost
