Description
Late 19th century: comprising a hard leather cover for a Bowie style knife, one side covered with sinew-tied seed beads, 10 3/4 in. L., 3 1/2 in. W.; and a narrow bag of soft deerskin, covered on both sides with sinew-tied seed beads, and with several laces, 8 1/2 in. L. excluding fringe and laces.
Condition
The larger sheath is missing almost all of a leather fringe. The smaller has some areas of bead loss, with a hole on one side

From the collection of Col. William H. Love, late 19th century (served in 9th Minn. Vols. in Civil War), and descended in his family.
