Description
Late 19th century: comprising a soft tanned deerskin moccasin decorated with quillwork and conical tin and hair dangles, about 10 1/2 in. L.; and a High Plains (probably Sioux) miniature deerskin bag, covered in seed beads and centering a cross, about 2 1/4 x 2 in.
Condition
The shoe shows considerable wear, with losses to the quillwork and about 18 dangles detached (several loose ones retained)
Provenance
From the collection of Col. William H. Love, late 19th century (served in 9th Minn. Vols. in Civil War), and descended in his family.
