Description
Qianlong Era, circa 1780-90 cup and saucer for Thomas Mifflin, blue and white decoration with raised dimpling and gilt on border, with shield having gilt letter M in center, topped by peace dove. saucer, 5 1/2 in. Diameter. Thomas Mifflin (1744-1800), was an American patriot, aide de camp to General George Washington, and later promoted to General in the Continental Army. He would go on to become the first governor of Pennsylvania and was a signor of The United States Constitution.
