Probably English, but with American use, 18th century, comprising a small balance with filed iron beam and brass pans, 4 3/4 in. L.; housed in an oak box with cotter pin hinges and an unusual hook and eye closure, a hand-written list of coins and their weights attached inside the lid; accompanied by two certified coin-form weights and five 17th-C. English copper farthing tokens (Bristol, 1652; Norwich, 1668 and 1670; Sherborn, 1669; and Kings Lynn, 1658, holed).
