Description
Yongzheng Era, circa 1730-35 bearing the arms of BOLLAERT. The rest of each dish is entirely decorated with a Chinese water and mountain landscape. There are also rocks, trees, and a lake with houses, a bridge, several Chinese figures, and about six little boats on the lake. The predominant colors are rich green and gold, with rouge de fer, blue, pink, brown, and black, in the Famille Verte palette. This mountain and water landscape is similar to the neighborhood of the porcelain manufacturing town of Jingdezhen in the province of Kiangsi. It is extremely rare to find an armorial service bearing a topographical scene that depicts the China trade. The reverse of each dish is painted with four panels with Chinese landscape. 6 1/4 in. Diam. For further example, see "Chinese Armorial Porcelain, for the Dutch Market," by Joachim Kroes, pp.138-39.
