Description
Yongzheng Era, circa 1730 maritime subject that has been interpreted to be a Dutch ship in the Far East. The pear-shaped body painted on either side in rose, pink, turquoise, blue, aubergine, yellow, black, white, and grisaille with a large ship coursing over a rough sea, beneath the spout a sampan, and above the spout and handle a fan-shaped device representing a wall behind which appears pagoda roofs amidst cloud motifs representing the shore, the cover with a wide pink diaper border reserved with four yellow and turquoise-edged panels of oriental landscapes, and the rose-dotted knop encircled by a yellow chrysanthemum blossom 4 1/4 in.
