Description
While the US Constitution forbade states from printing currency, the Confederate one did not so most southern states continued to print their own money through the civil war. These $50 were printed March 10th 1863 in Shreveport and are Criswell 12's and rated scarce to rare at R-6. SN 3821 shows a flamboyant signature by Treasurer Peralta which has an ink burn from the heavy signature. This one should be XF with only a couple small corner folds. The next one, SN 4284, shows a tired Mr. Peralta no longer signing so flamboyant but still with a flair. This one should be VF with a few old folds and creases. General Leonidas Polk Is the central figure.
