Chinese export, Qianlong era, circa 1745, Dutch market, eggshell-thin armorial porcelain decorated with a portrait of the leading reformer, Gisbert Voet, within a circular medallion, with the arms of the City of Utrecht under the inscription �VOETIUS,� all below a gilt Meissen-style scroll border. Gisbert Voet (1589-1676), called 'Voetius,' was a strict puritan and a principal figure amongst Calvinists in the mid-17th century. He was a professor of theology at the University of Utrecht in what is today The Netherlands Saucer, 2 1/4 in. Diam.; bowl 2 7/8 in.
