Jiaqing Era, circa 1795. Chinese Export American market ,What would you give your sweetheart back in America whilst out on the voyage to Canton? How about, this weekend only, a set of porcelain heart to heart tea wares with your and your belle’s initials??? So little of this wonderful ‘gift’ porcelain exists today. Here is a rare example from the successful 1790s China trade merchant, Nicholas A. Brown, to his betrothed, Hope Brown, monogrammed ‘NB to HB.’
