Inscribed, "IoHN LoCKe / NSIN / IAMES LoCK AT / SEC BROCK HIS / EHORN iGTON / IOHN LOCK WIFE / MOLY LOCK" (identified with Ensign, later 2nd Lt. James Locke, 1729-1808, a militiaman from Hopkinton, Middlesex Co., Mass., the other names denoting family members) the lettering covering about half of the surface, the balance with the plan of a fort (believed to be Ft. Edward, designated with an "E" at the center; a small cow horn, thinned toward the mouth, with engrailing at the step-down, fitted with a wooden butt cap, secured with brads, faintly lettered "SC," 6 7/8 in. L.
