Inscribed "STEPHEN X BURNETT || OCTOBER 16 1776" (most likely the patriot in DAR listings, 1726-after 1778, from East Hampton, Long Island, a signer of the Association roll ) also engraved with three stylized plants and a band of cross-hatched diamonds; cow's horn, wooden butt secured with metal brads, centering three small nails and a trace of leather strap for suspension, the narrowing half, toward the mouth shaved thin, wooden stopper, 10 3/4 in. L.
Condition
Part of original design appears to have been cut out, leaving a cracked thin spot. A crack extends approx. 1 in. from the butt, affecting the date
