19th century or earlier, comprising a diamond-section blade with suguha temper line; the habaki covered with silver and gold foils, 14 3/4 in. L, 1 1/16 in. D at the hilt, the tang with two holes, not signed, 4 1/4 in. L. The handle of carved cherry with pine branches in relief, the metal mounts appear to be shakudo with gilt inlay, 5 1/2 in. L. The tsuba with openwork design of a crane flying over waves, with some gold inlay. Matching cherry scabbard carved to resemble a natural tree branch, 16 3/4 in. L. Inscribed kotsuka with carved wood handle, decorated with bamboo stalk, 8 3/8 in. L overall. With an embroidered cloth bag
