D. at the hilt; the tang bears an inscription on either side, 3 7/8 in. L. The handle with shakudo fuchi and menuki, 4 3/8 in. L. Small iron tsuba, with openwork lotus foliage. Scabbard with black lacquer, finish, 11 5/8 in. L. Kotsuka with inscribed iron blade and shakudo handle, 8 3/8 in. L
