Description
NJ-159 12/31/1763 A Very nice uncirculated note with the bold black signatures of Jonathan Johnson, Richard Smith and Joseph Smith. This crisp note with SN 2070 would almost definitely get a EPQ/PPQ designation. Richard Smith was a lawyer and Judge who actively fought against the Stamp Act of 1763 and was a member of the Continental Congress 1774-1776 where he signed the Continental Association (Agreement to boycott British Goods). He resigned in June 1776 before the Declaration of Independence was written. Reverse has an anti-counterfeiting leaf design printed by Ja. Parker
Provenance
From the Estate of a Maryland Collector
