A target rifle, signed on top of barrel, maker active in Cherry Flats, Richmond Township, Tioga Co., Pa., 1847-'61: heavy octagonal barrel bored for about 45 calibre, fitted with a rear notch sight on an adjustable up and down on leaf mount, and a brass front sight, adjustable side to side (replacing original bead front sight, 33 1/2 in. L.; percussion ignition with engraved plate and set trigger; walnut half stock (repaired ahead of the trigger with a brass plate during use) with brass trigger guard, cap box, and butt plate, pewter nose; ram rod; 49 1/4 in. L. overall.
