Late Qianlong Era, circa 1790 China Trade subject depicting ships and warehouses in the Far East. Late Qianlong era, circa 1790. Of globular shape with a triangular mouth jutting out in one part, executed in white porcelain with enamels of the Famille Rose. The scene spreads continuously around the piece and might represent a Western warehouse in a Far East port. In a background filled with Chinese conical mountains, there is a set of European buildings, houses, and towers. At the cove, two men follow three ships and a fishing boat. A fort with two domed towers and two windmills is also depicted in the scene. A saucer with this design is in the permanent collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. 5 in.
